New IDIS 5mp super fisheye compact is benchmark award finalist

IDIS dewarping and fisheye technology is proving a market game-changer
IDIS’s 5MP Super Fisheye Compact camera has been confirmed as a finalist in the 2019 Benchmark Innovation Awards, the latest in a string of successes for the company’s fisheye technology.
The Innovation Awards, announced annually by industry-leading Benchmark Magazine and judged by the Benchmark test team and an independent panel, recognise technology developments that deliver significant and tangible benefits to installers and end-users.
IDIS’s new Fisheye Compact (DC-Y6513RX), which will also feature strongly at IFSEC International this year, is an all-round high-specification camera that can be used to record activity – reliably and affordably – in a wide range of environments. As with earlier models, it has been developed to meet demand for outstanding image capture, security against hacking, reliability against data loss, ease of installation and low cost of ownership with smoother, and easier operability.
A key feature is the camera’s advanced dewarping capability, which allows full retrospective pan-tilt-zoom in all directions on the recorded footage for post-incident investigation.  IDIS Smart UX Controls enable mouse and keyboard as well as joystick control, ensuring silky-smooth manoeuvrability, while triple-side dewarping means users have a convenient dewarping capability on the camera as well as via NVRs and client software including the IDIS Mobile app.
The 5MP Super Fisheye Compact is neither bandwidth- nor storage-hungry, thanks to IDIS Intelligent Codec advanced compression technology, which is combined with dual codec to allow simultaneous H.264 live viewing and H.265 high resolution recording, for maximum flexibility.
For the installer the technology gives a better choice for wide area protection applications, including lobbies, auditoriums, corridors, open rooms and storage areas, and helps their customers to achieve more within their budgets.
For the end-user it makes a whole new range of capabilities affordable and practical, thanks to exceptional situational awareness and comprehensive 24/7 recording of the complete scene. These capabilities include not just improved security but also more effective health & safety investigations in the event of alleged incidents and greater business intelligence with functions such as heat-mapping.
The 5MP Super Fisheye Compact also delivers with lower upfront equipment costs. It can typically replace three or four fixed-lens cameras, which reduces installation fees and maintenance burdens.
Fisheye cameras are proving to be particularly popular with installers and end-users, says James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, making it an essential camera for many new applications and upgrades. “Thanks to its cost and performance benefits the 12MP Super Fisheye has quickly become one of our best-selling models since its launch 18 months ago. Now our new 5MP compact model looks set to be just as popular particularly in the retail, eating-out, healthcare and education sectors.”
The complete IDIS fisheye range will feature prominently at IFSEC, June 18-20 on stand IF1110.
