NSI heading for IFSEC, Firex and Engineers of Tomorrow

NSI experts are heading for IFSEC 2016 with the latest news, views and information essential to the security and fire safety community. The relevance of industry standards and benefits of third party certification have never been greater.

As a partner of IFSEC/FIREX 2016, the new-look NSI stand (B1050) will be a must-visit destination for visitors to the industry’s trade event of the year, keen to learn about NSI GOLD certification.

Welcoming visitors to the stand throughout the three days, the NSI team will be ready to help installers with any queries about Standards and certification. NSI will be hosting various events including a VIP and Press reception on the NSI stand on the afternoon of Wednesday 22 June to formally announce the introduction of NSI’s new and keenly anticipated certification scheme for installers and maintainers of powered gates. Working extensively with the Door and Hardware Federation (DFH) in the development of their new Code of Practice, NSI has been appointed by the DHF on an exclusive basis to approve companies in the sector.

The much loved and popular NSI owl, ‘Cash’, will be flying in especially to make a guest appearance on 21st and 22nd and will be available for visitors’ ‘selfies’ photographs. He will also be present at NSI medal presentations on the NSI stand, when the capabilities of NSI approved companies will be formally recognised.

On the educational side, Tony Weeks, Head of Technical Services, will be taking part in a panel discussion on ‘Standards and Certification – Fit for Purpose?’ in the IFSEC Installer Theatre on Wednesday at 1440 hrs; John Davidson, Head of Field Operations (Systems) will be presenting on: ‘Choosing a Competent Fire Risk Assessor (DIY or Specialist?)’ in the Health & Safety Zone on 21 June at 1500hrs and the FPA Infozone on 23 June at 1230 hrs.

Mark Gallagher, Technical Officer, will be talking to visitors about the importance of powered gate safety. Mark’s presentation: “A Gateway to Safety: Raising Standards in the Powered Gate Sector” will be of particular interest to those in the trade and the Facilities Management community and can be heard on 22 June at 1000hrs in the IFSEC Installer Theatre and on 23 June at 1200hrs in the FM Operational Excellence area.

NSI remains committed to supporting the Engineers of Tomorrow competition which promotes the value of apprenticeships and training and showcases the skills of the industry’s young engineers and apprentices. Increasing popularity means the competition has been oversubscribed this year, and the standard of the competitors’ skills is expected to be higher than ever. NSI auditors will be adjudicating and Richard Jenkins, NSI Chief Executive will be presenting the heat winners prizes at 1630hrs on Tuesday 21st June on the competition stand B1000 (next to NSI) at the show.

Richard Jenkins comments:

“We are delighted to be a partnering IFSEC/FIREX again in 2016. The NSI team is very much looking forward to meeting up with individuals from the security and fire sectors, be they already part of the NSI community or those who would like to find out more about NSI certification and how this adds value to their customers.”
