Paxton pays to run children’s charity for a day

Paxton fundraised to run local children’s charity, Chestnut Tree House, for a day. Chestnut Tree House cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-shortening conditions at their premises in West Sussex and in the children’s own homes. Currently around 300 children use the service each year and in total it costs £6,850 per day to run the centre.

The Paxton team participated in a range of fundraising activities including selling bacon butties for breakfast, a bake-off competition and raffles and some even ran the Brighton Marathon to raise over the total needed.

Kate Hotson, Projects and Events Manager, said: “It’s important to the staff at Paxton that we help local charities and we’re very proud to have supported Chestnut Tree House as we know monies raised will make a difference to the children and their families at this amazing hospice.”

The facilities at Chestnut Tree House include a sensory room, which provides quiet time and relaxation for children and parents, a swimming pool, which is fantastic for those children in wheelchairs as it provides them with the ability to move freely and also have a proper hug with mum and dad, and a woodland walk, which was built based on feedback from parents and specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users and the children’s beds if they want to join in with the activities but may not be feeling well enough that day.

Dannii Binns, Corporate Fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House, said: “We are so grateful to Paxton for choosing to support Chestnut Tree House. The team have really thrown themselves into fundraising, both at their office in Brighton and by taking part in events, and have raised enough to pay for a full day of our care services, which is amazing. We need to raise £6,850 every day to provide all our specialist care services, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes, so support from our local business community is invaluable. On behalf of Chestnut Tree House, I would like to thank everyone at Paxton for their support.”
