Access control products from Paxton appear as part of a convincing high security set in Trance, the new film from Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle.
The hotly-anticipated British crime thriller is centred on an art heist and is released to cinemas this April. Paxton’s stylish CARDLOCK readers are used to protect the vault where the art heist takes place, in an old auction house. They provide an authentic, high security look and are perfectly in keeping with the feel of Boyle’s exciting and fast-paced thriller.
Three Mills Studios is London’s largest film studios and was responsible for creating the Trance set. The visual goal was to produce a modern, bold and colourful setting but to keep the balance between the old world and new. Dominic Capon, Set Decorator, chose Paxton readers to star in the film after extensive research into suitable products. Paxton were pleased to provide them with the CARDLOCK readers in satin chrome; a smart, low profile reader suitable for a range of environments.
Capon said: “We chose Paxton as they were clearly the best on the market. Not only are they good to look at, which is clearly an advantage on film, but you just knew at a glance that it was a sophisticated piece of equipment. The brief from Danny was for a very clean, modern and clearly high tech piece of equipment, set in an old world/auction house setting.”
The Three Mill Studios team were really pleased with the overall effect of the CARDLOCK readers and with the support they received from Paxton.
Capon added: “Paxton couldn’t have done enough for us and were incredibly helpful, especially with their understanding of our very particular requirements the whole way through the process.”
It is not the first time that Paxton kit has been used in television and film. Paxton readers have previously featured in BAFTA-winning television series, Sherlock and ITV hospital drama, Monroe.
Paxton products are designed with aesthetics in mind and have always proven popular with customers. Paxton offer an attractive reader range suitable for a variety of site requirements. This makes them an ideal choice for use in television and film, as well as off set where Paxton’s access control is used to protect thousands of buildings.
