Radio broadcasting prevention is topic of the day at CSL Annual Insurer’s and security consultant’s forum

CSL_logo_2013-no-tag-RGBCSL DualCom hosted their second successful annual insurance and security consultants’ forum at the Dublin HQ of business partner Vodafone Ireland. Delegates were treated to an array of presenters from across the industry including, Security Consultancies, the An Garda Siochana, Vodafone and CSL DualCom. Many attendees were particularly interested to discover more about some of the methods on offer for identifying Radio blocking.

Sergeant Eugene O’Leary from the GTAC office of the An Garda Siochana presented some statistics on the high numbers of Radio blocking devices that had been seized following attempts by criminals to use them to disable security systems. Cathal O’Neill, a leading Security Consultant, provided a valuable insight into the importance of delaying as well as deterring a potential intruder. Vodafone’s Dave Kenny took a look at the roll out of 4G services plus the growth of Machine-to Machine (M2M) solutions for fire and security, Telehealthcare and many other sectors. CSL’s Dave Hewitt also took a look at this area discussing CSL’s recent venture in M2M via CSL Communications.

There was an explanation into how the DualCom Gemini® Managed Network has the unique ability to detect the difference between a radio blocker and a mobile network outage. Many existing PSTN and GSM diallers cannot combat line cuts and radio jamming, however DualCom reports these attacks to both the ARC and alarm panel within seconds. This is one of the reasons DualCom is now the preferred signalling solution for the majority of security system upgrades and new installations throughout Ireland.

A healthy Q&A session followed as delegates wanted to understand more about how the DualCom is able to detect a blocker. MCM and Smart Monitoring provided some insight from an ARC perceptive on just how useful this feature is.
