Recognising their very best – Securitas Annual Community Awards 2016
The very best of Securitas UK’s employees were recognised at a spectacular event at The Belfry Hotel and Resort, near Sutton Coldfield on 15 September 2016.
Now in its seventh year, the Securitas UK Annual Community Awards 2016 event welcomed 40 finalists, selected from the company’s year round award programme, to recognise them for their outstanding work over the past 12 months.
The finalists and their guests were joined by customers and event sponsors for a glittering evening of achievement by the Bloomberg Top 400’s only security industry employer. The finalists have been selected by the awards’ sponsors from hundreds of nominations submitted over the year, and winners for each of the 10 award categories were announced on the night.
The winners included those who used their quick thinking and training to protect their customers’ businesses, keeping staff and members of the public safe and even saving lives; those who applied their expertise to delight our customers by going over and above or improving existing processes and systems; and a team who mobilised an operation of 400 security officers, ensuring that a world-renowned tourist attraction remained secure and open to visitors.
These awards are just one of a number of programmes run by Securitas, which seeks to develop the professionalism of the UK security industry, delivering a strategy to move all employees to the National Living Wage by 2020 whilst determining to work against a trend of blending these critical protective services with other less crucial services, such as catering and cleaning.
Commenting on the evening, Brian Riis Nielsen, Securitas UK Country President said:
“Another great opportunity to recognise and reward our people, who go beyond the call of duty to deliver an excellent service to our customers. Our employees are having an impact in every type of role, with every type of customer, not only dealing with security threats but making a difference to their community, customers and colleagues, and often dealing with life-changing situations. Our company is focused solely on security and safety and that means our people become experts in their work. I am exceptionally proud of our employees who really do go over and above in the jobs they do.”
In addition, the Securitas Good Customer Award, in association with Risk UK was presented to Astra Zeneca. This special accolade is designed to reward those customers who have contributed greatly to an improvement in the standards and perception of the security industry as a whole.
The evening raised £3,080 for this year’s dedicated charity, Wooden Spoon (the Children’s Charity of Rugby), funding life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland to support disadvantaged and disabled children. The money was raised through a charity auction on the night along with donation matching by Securitas.
