A new strategic partnership has been launched between Samsung Techwin and Midwich Security to give customers added opportunities for convergence between AV and IP.

Samsung chose Midwich as its channel partner, reinforcing an established working relationship, and the partnership was officially launched on the Midwich sales floor on 5 July.

Mark Thomas, director of Midwich Security, said the launch received a “high energy” response from the company’s sales team as the Samsung product range fits “perfectly” with Midwich’s AV and IT marketplace customers.

Specialist technology distributor Midwich has been a leading vendor for Samsung for many years in different channels and the strategic relationship is designed to offer benefits to customers through the crossover of IP and AV markets.

The deal will offer Midwich Security, the security product distributor division of Midwich, improved brand awareness and recognition that comes from the Samsung association as it assists its partner in helping to drive their security products within the UK.

Customers are set to benefit from the advantages of being able to merge IP products with AV systems and get into new markets, boosted by the continued growth of IP technology allowing for increased convergence prospects and growing demand for security across a range of markets.

Thomas said: “The benefits it will offer customers is that they will be able to enter new market spaces and grow their business within their existing customer base by offering new services, such as adding IP surveillance as part of their product portfolio.

“That is the big advantage to our customers – the ability to grow their business by selling more IT-based products, which IP surveillance is. It is very closely aligned with AV, as we see more convergence going on in the marketplace.”

Gary Rowden, European sales and  marketing director for Samsung Techwin, said: “Demand for security across the board is becoming more widespread in a range of markets and this, along with the latest leading technology offered from Samsung, makes this a very exciting time for us.

“The excellent knowledge and logistics available at Midwich gives us an ideal business partner and we look forward to continued success with their established security division.”
