Scotshield donates new Vauxhall to veterans’ charity Erskine

Leading Fire & Security firm Scotshield, in partnership with Vauxhall, is showing its charitable side by donating a brand new car to the veterans’ charity Erskine.

The donation is part of Scotshield’s ongoing charity commitment and will enable Erskine to use the Vauxhall Astra Active for a 12-month period.  The car is taxed and fully insured and the contribution to the charity, which is valued at £5,000, will be of great benefit to the organisation which cares for veterans.

Erskine, founded in 1916, is a Scotshield client with the company installing its fire systems and continuing to maintain the systems at its Bishopton, Erskine and Edinburgh homes.  Scotshield’s donation came about through its strong corporate social responsibility ethos which saw the ethical firm giving back to the charity.

Erskine, theUK’s foremost provider of care for veterans, has homes throughoutScotlandand the car will be a welcome addition to transport facilities, which enable veterans’ to visit a variety of destinations.

Keith Rogerson, Finance Director at Scotshield, said: “Scotshield is always looking at ways to help out local charities and to be of assistance in the local community.  We’re exceptionally pleased to be able to work alongside Vauxhall and assist Erskine with this donation which will in turn help benefit veterans across the country.

“Our staff are very socially responsible and help to raise funds for many worthwhile charities – we have made this donation as a company to cement that ethos and we continue to support charitable organisations on an ongoing basis.”

Erskine’s Chief Executive, Lt Col Steve Conway, said: “I would like to thank our friends at Scotshield for this generous donation of a car. This will help us to continue our work of providing a high standard of care for veterans throughout the country.  It is reassuring to know that the men and women who have served our country are receiving the care they so richly deserve thanks to donations from supporters such as Scotshield and Vauxhall.”

Steve Hickman, Fleet Sales Manager at Vauxhall, said: “We’ve worked closely with Scotshield over a number of years now to supply its fleet of cars and as a valued customer we’re delighted to be able to provide the company with the Astra for the year which was then kindly donated to Erskine for the benefit of ex-servicemen and women.”
