Security Media Publishing (SMP) is pleased to announce that it has been appointed the only Official News Provider for Intersec, organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt, for the next three years. This relationship has grown out of SMP’s successful editorial, video and social media coverage of the 2013 and 2014 events, and over the next three years we will be covering the build up to the annual exhibition and providing on the ground coverage of the show itself, as well as reporting on the array of events and activities that Intersec supports throughout the year.
Speaking about this partnership, SMP’s Managing Director, Philip Ingram MBE, said, “We are extremely proud to have developed such a strong partnership with Epoc Messe Frankfurt and the Intersec exhibition. Intersec is the leading international trade fair for the security and safety industry, and as news providers for the same global platform this partnership makes absolute sense. Developing its relationship with us, and cementing if for the future, demonstrates Intersec’s commitment to advancing the way it supports and communicates with the industry. We are looking forward to another three years covering the show through our online, print and video news channels and working closely with Messe Frankfurt and the event’s exhibitors and visitors.”
Intersec 2014, the 16th edition of the show, was a resounding success. Officially inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Manoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the three-day event welcomed 1,213 exhibitors from 50 countries and 24,766 visitors. This was a 22% increase in exhibitor numbers and 15% more visitors than previous years. The top five exhibitor countries were the UAE, UK, China, Germany and Italy – proving the show’s global draw.
2015 is already on track to top this record-breaking show, with organisers tracking double-digit growth as global demand for security equipment is estimated to grow 7% annually. The 17th edition of Intersec is setting the pace for the market, with an expected 15% growth on exhibition space year-on-year. Andreas Rex, Epoc Messe Frankfurt’s Senior Show Manager for Intersec, said “Intersec 2015 is set to break all records again. It is now the largest and most international security and safety exhibition worldwide. We are investing a lot to continue that growth and are very excited to extend our partnership with SMP as the show’s Official News Provider. The renewed agreement will ensure Intersec continues to be front of mind among our key industry stakeholders through multiple media channels.”
At the 2015 event the SMP video team will once again be on the ground capturing the latest news as it happens, including daily news reports posted online each morning, covering each of the five product sections at Intersec (Commercial Security, Information Security, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health and Homeland Security). SMP’s coverage of the 2014 event, which included video interviews with top delegates such as Vince Cable, UK Business Secretary, was so well received that it was requested for use by the Al Jazeera news network in the Middle East.
