SIA in search of board member with private security expertise

business-handshakeThe Home Office is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Board Member to the SIA’s Board with private security industry experience.

The person will contribute to the overall strategic direction and corporate oversight of the organisation. Along with other Board members he or she will ensure that through appropriate governance the Executive Team is held to account for discharging its duties effectively and to the highest possible standards.

Candidates must have a successful track record of achievement in a Board level role within a major organisation; a good and recent understanding and knowledge of the private security industry; with the ability to represent the interests of the private security industry to the Board and Senior Management Team; evidence of having driven change and delivered improvement across a diverse, multi-faceted stakeholder population and understanding of issues relating to the regulation of a sector with similar characteristics to that of the private security industry.

The appointment will be for an initial three-year period and is expected to start by July 2013, subject to the relevant security clearances being obtained. The role requires a commitment of 3 days per month; remuneration is £9,160 per annum (not pensionable).
