The Security Industry Authority has revealed it has signed a five-year £13 million contract with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Limited to deliver future licensing services.
TCS were picked following the completion of a tendering process. The SIA claims it opted for TCS as they were assessed as the “most competitive” based on set pre-defined evaluation criteria.
The five-year contract covers the new systems to support the future licensing, approval and compliance systems being established by the SIA, with the new services scheduled to launch at the end of June 2014.
Stephen McCormick, the SIA’s director of service delivery, said: “We are pleased to have agreed and signed a contract with TCS. The new services that TCS will provide will streamline our processes, making them simpler to use, and will encourage industry self-service.”
At the end of July, the SIA announced it had issued its one millionth licence since the first two were issued in April 2004.
The granting of the landmark licence came in the same week the SIA launched a new service with the Post Office to make applying for a licence cheaper and easier.
