SSAIB Celebrates its 20th Anniversary at IFSEC Show

ssaibSSAIB, the UK’s leading certification body – which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2014 – will be returning to IFSEC at its new London ExCeL home on stand F1375 for this year’s show.

The number of SSAIB-registered firms now stands at a record 1500+ and includes companies providing electronic security, intruder alarms, manned protection, fire detection systems, as well as new services such as telecare monitoring systems for the social alarms sector. Throughout IFSEC, representatives including SSAIB’s new Compliance and Scheme Manager, Malcolm Craighead, and Stephen Grieve, SSAIB’s Manned Services Scheme Manager, will be available to answer queries and discuss specific issues that concern registered firms.

Meanwhile, Technical and Operations Manager Dave Profit, Chief Executive Geoff Tate and other staff including Sales and Marketing Manager Andrew Brown will be on-hand to explain the benefits of SSAIB’s accreditation services. These include its latest accreditation for both environmental management systems and occupational health and safety management systems. SSAIB also recently introduced a code of practice for scaffolding alarm systems and completed a pilot scheme company assessment against the newly published Britished Standard 102000 for investigative services.

“These new schemes show SSAIB is pressing ahead in all of the sectors we operate and they run alongside other initiatives including our BAFE SP 205 UKAS-accredited scheme, dealing with companies or individuals carrying out a fire risk assessment of any premises,” says Andrew Brown. “During IFSEC 2014, SSAIB is also proudly supporting the Engineers of Tomorrow challenge, a national competition testing the skills of apprentice systems installers against European standards, offering them an industry-wide opportunity to publicly demonstrate their achievements.

“Engineers of Tomorrow chimes with SSAIB’s steadfast support for industry standards in the security, fire and other sectors. That’s why we will again be providing assessors to mark candidates, as well as one of the cash prizes, to help ensure that the 2014 challenge is successful again in its 14th year.”
