Synectics solutions on show at Global MSC

Synectics will exhibit at this year’s Global MSC Security Conference & Exhibition, focusing on how integrated end-to-end surveillance solutions can benefit customers and meet very precise sector and project needs.

The global surveillance business – which operates in sectors including high security, infrastructure, oil and gas, gaming and transportation – will be demonstrating key features of its Synergy 3 command and control platform, highlighting important end-user benefits.

Synectics’ Commercial Director, David Petrook, said:

“System integration is now widely recognised as an approach that delivers improved safety, security and site efficiency. Using an open platform such as Synergy 3 to monitor, manage and record data from alarms and events, third party sub-systems, and video – from a single unified interface – is becoming industry best practice.

“The onus is therefore on solutions providers to take that experience to the next level with features that can be tailored to create a unique support mechanism for complete site protection, whatever the sector.

“Fully customisable user interface, incident collaboration tools, interactive mapping with Geospatial Information System (GIS) technology, and workflow management tools that can aid security and operational decision processes – as well as emergency response scenarios – are highly valued.”

Public space is a key segment of the high security sector feeling the benefit of an integrated approach to surveillance, with councils increasingly exploring new opportunities.

In Salford, for example, an upgrade to Synergy 3 is enabling IP and analogue cameras from two separate systems, covering public and business areas, to be monitored and controlled in a single unified environment. The system is also enabling the control room team to benefit from HD viewing on their display wall for the first time. In Islington, operators are seeing the benefit of a more joined-up approach. They are now able to access and collate data from more than 1,000 cameras, including 14 3G mobile cameras deployed to ‘hot spot’ areas – locations often identified through incident type/rate analysis facilitated by the solution’s audit trail functionality.

For Synectics, Global MSC is also an important opportunity to discuss key regulatory and performance standards with installers and specifiers.

Petrook continued:

“The partners we work with need to know that we are constantly evolving our solutions and ensuring that the right standards are in place to make the decision process easier.

“A key achievement for us this year, for example, has been compliance with the top grade requirements specified under BS EN62676-4, the new series of standards introduced to aid specifiers, installers and end-users in their selection of video surveillance systems by grading according to levels of functionality.

“It’s an important extra level of reassurance and those specifying our end-to-end solutions know, when seeing that we meet the highest grade level of BS EN62676-4 , that our systems deliver against exacting security, resiliency, third party data sharing and image recording requirements.”

Earlier this year Synectics also announced that Synergy 3 is fully conformant with ONVIF Profile S, thereby confirming compatibility with third party ONVIF Profile S conformant IP devices, such as cameras and encoders.

Petrook concluded:

“Events like this are so important. They provide a forum for discussion around the latest technologies and innovations but perhaps more importantly, facilitate face-to-face discussions around industry best practice and emerging end-user requirements. As an organisation committed to ongoing development, the opportunity to share views and hear first-hand insights is invaluable.”
