Synectics, a leading developer and manufacturer of integrated security systems, is turning its stand (F150) at this year’s Counter Terror Expo (25th – 26th April, Olympia) into an industry ‘Knowledge Hub’ for sharing best practice.

The company has secured leading industry experts on policing and the protection of critical national infrastructure (CNI), to offer advice and share knowledge on a range of counter-terror scenarios.

Experts already confirmed include Andy Stokes, Managing Director of Initiatec and specialist in the strategic and practical use of CCTV within counter-terror policing, and consultants from international security risk management and asset protection specialist Harnser Group.

As well as being able to seek advice from the experts during the show, which includes Synectics’ own CNI, Banking and Technology Networking specialists, industry professionals can also submit questions and pre-book one-to-one meetings in advance via an exclusive industry LinkedIn Group – the ‘Counter Terror Knowledge Hub’.

Whether visiting the Knowledge Hub at the show, or getting involved via the LinkedIn Group, end-users will be encouraged to share their own experiences and knowledge with others. For Steve Gregory, advisor to NATO and Chief Executive of Harnser Group, this is a very important aspect of the Hub.

He said: “One of the most valuable things I’ve learnt in this industry is the importance of shared experience. Whatever the sector, project size or scenario, there are always lessons we can learn from others about protecting assets effectively and managing risk more efficiently.

“But uncovering that information can be tricky. All too often organisations come up against an issue they think relates only to them when in fact, it could be quite a common problem that others have faced and dealt with successfully. That’s why forums that allow people to share experiences and information are so important, and why Synectics’ Knowledge Hub is such a great idea.”

Azadar Shah, Managing Director of Synectics’ networks division also feel the Hub has an important role to play.

He said: “This is quite a departure from our traditional exhibition presence. Rather than simply highlighting security technologies available, we wanted to create a new and unique experience that would allow industry professionals to connect with experts and peers, discuss issues, and learn from each other. Shared knowledge is how you achieve best practice and supporting that goal is our core objective.”
