TDSi team tackles the Tough Mudder endurance challenge

TDSi-logoA group of brave team members from integrated security solutions manufacturer TDSi will be tackling Tough Mudder – London West on 26 th April, the aim being to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.   A team of 17 TDSi employees and family members will be battling the gruelling, muddy course to complete the 10-12 mile event which is being held near Henley-on-Thames.

The Managing Director of TDSi, John Davies, will be at the centre of the action with the team as they tackle the course and commented, “I have been running in a number of events including the Bournemouth Marathon last October but the Tough Mudder is something completely different. For the uninitiated, this is a hardcore event which separates the men for the boys and women from the girls. The course takes runners through farmland, forest and over large hills – with all manner of fiendish obstacles including walls, ropes, tunnels, electrified equipment and of course copious amounts of mud, all to test their mettle! ”

The event is a challenge of physical and mental endurance, but the payoff is that there is a great spirit of camaraderie and achievement. As John Davies continued, “Determination is just as key as physical fitness. The obstacles are designed to truly push the limits of the participants, but much like being in competitive business it ’s good to face up to challenges and overcome them. I am very proud to be part of the TDSi team, a group of people that I respect and trust. It ’s great for morale and I look forward to completing the course and celebrating with the team. ”

To ensure the team is fit and healthy enough to safely take part TDSi has enlisted the help of fitness coach Kerin Bassett. As well as regular long-distance running practice and cardio work the grueling schedule has included bodyweight squats, press ups, single step lunges and triceps dips – to ensure overall fitness.

Tough-Mudder-2012 (2)TDSi has been supporting Help for Heroes for a number of years and it ’s fitting that the grueling determination required to complete the event mirrors the struggles that the charity ’s beneficiaries face daily. Sarah Phillips, Marketing Manager added, “We have been supporting the charity for some time as it helps a very deserving cause. The TDSi team is lucky that we can face this challenge and then continue with our daily lives unaffected by the sorts of problems that Help for Heroes assist these brave people to overcome. We can face the discomfort of Tough Mudder knowing that our efforts will help people who have been through far worse but do so with courage and determination. ”
