Thomas Carnevale of Sentry360 shares his thoughts on Intersec 2014 in the latest SecurityNewsDesk interview ahead of the exhibition.

1.    How long has Sentry 360 been participating in Intersec and how have you seen the event grow and change over the years?

This is Sentry360’s first time participating at Intersec and the show will act as a launch platform for our new line of NVR Server Switches, sentryEdge™ – an eco-system driven appliance available in both mini and pro series. Sentry360 has seen tremendous global growth and as a result of that growth, we are thrilled that Intersec can serve as a tool to grow our international presence even further.

2.    Why do you think the exhibition has become such a leading light in the industry?

The EMEA market is rich with opportunity and has become a targeted region for many video surveillance companies worldwide. With over 10 years of development in 360-degree immersive technology, cameras ranging from 3 to 14 megapixels, and having a single lens/single sensor philosophy for reliability, we believe that Sentry360 products provide the right solution for this market. Exhibition brings about results because there is a focus on bringing together the buying chain in one place in addition to the opportunity to meet with new and existing partners.

3.    What unique opportunities does Intersec offer Sentry 360?

Over the past 24 months, Sentry360 has seen growth rates of over 300% including offices in Dubai and Istanbul, Turkey and has had successful deployments in every vertical market.  Because of our expansion into the Middle East, the whole Sentry360 team is excited that Intersec will provide a valuable platform to unveil sentryEdge™ to this market.

In addition, Intersec brings together several industry professionals, media outlets, system integrators, distributors and consultants and it is a great opportunity to educate them on sentryEdge™ and the solutions it provides. We look forward to the networking opportunities at Intersec as well and believe it will be beneficial time in Dubai.

4.    What do you think are the top issues, challenges or talking points in the industry at the moment, and what do you think an exhibition like Intersec 2014 will contribute to these?

IP video surveillance configuration has struggled to compare with easy plug-and-play installation of analog cameras. Sentry360 recently introduced sentryView™ – the world’s first universal camera configuration tool. Now, the simplicity of analog CCTV meets the power of IP video. Intersec 2014 will showcase solutions like sentryView™ and more this year in Dubai.

5.    What product that you are demonstrating in January are you the most excited about?

Our open-platform server switch, sentryEdge™ features a solid state drive operating system for reliability and Intel processors ensuring speed and security. These server switches are available in 8, 16 or 24 port models and have several storage options. These edge devices combine a server and a smart network switch in one product. IP video has struggled to replicate the plug-and-play legacy that was created by analog systems, and sentryEdge™ brings that ease-of-use one step closer to the integrator and the end-user alike. Designed for entry-level systems with the mini series, or enterprise-class deployments with the pro series, the sentryEdge™ unit provides a scalable solution regardless of project size. Each system comes pre-installed with sentryView™ configuration software, which allows users to automatically assign IP addresses, gateway, subnet, image quality, and motion detection settings. Using sentryView™, these settings can then be exported to the video management software of choice. SentryView™ is designed to make the configuration process a simple task and also allows for batch firmware updates to cameras as a maintenance tool. SentryEdge™ allows for more reliable, flexible and scalable surveillance systems.

6.    What are you most looking forward to at the 2014 event?

We are all looking forward to meeting with our partners and customers – both new and existing. We can’t wait to share the excitement of sentryEdge™ with this market and show them the solutions it provides.
