UK’s biggest locksmith convention —The MLA Expo 2011 — launched

With ten per cent of exhibition space sold within just 24 hours of its launch, the 2011 MLA Expo is already shaping up to be the locksmithing event of the coming year, organisers say.

The MLA Expo 2011 is the 16th instalment of the bi-annual event organised by the leading trade association for the locksmithing profession, The Master Locksmiths Association (MLA).

Set for 9-11 September 2011 at The International Centre in Telford, the event welcomes locksmiths and suppliers from all over the world to discuss industry trends, trial products and take part in training courses.

Announcing locksmithing tool specialist Tradelocks as the event’s platinum sponsor, the MLA has also recorded a record number of enquiries from professional locksmiths, manufactures and suppliers looking to attend and exhibit at the internationally renowned event.

Commenting on the launch of the exhibition, Dr Steffan George, development director for the MLA said: “Every year we see the MLA Expo getting bigger and bigger with more and more locksmiths and associated companies from all over the globe attending the event.  We are delighted with the response we have had since the launch – the fact 20 stands went in one week alone and subsequently one third of the exhibition stand area has been taken, is proof that the Expo is regarded as the principle industry event.

“Securing Tradelocks as our platinum sponsor reiterates our status as the most respected, sector specific and most established locksmithing exhibition and we are looking forward to finalising and announcing further exhibitors and training courses in the coming months.”

MLA Expo exhibitors and visitors typically range from tool suppliers to practicing locksmiths, specialist locksmiths, manufacturers and associated companies.  Over 1500 people from all over the globe are expected to attend the three day event – previous exhibitions have seen visitors come from as far afield as Australia, continental Europe and the USA.

David Jennings, managing director of Tradelocks said: “Tradelocks actually launched at the 2009 MLA Expo and we did very well out of it.  The MLA Expo is the perfect opportunity to meet experienced as well as new locksmiths and reach audiences we had not previously been exposed to, so sponsoring the 2011 Expo was the next logical step for us.

“We know locksmiths appreciate the opportunity to test tools and techniques and meet manufacturers and fellow locksmiths face-to-face which is why the MLA event is continuously growing and regarded so highly amongst the locksmithing profession, not only within the UK but also on a global scale.”
