Homeland Security five colour advisory system

According to a report from Associated Press, the US Department of Homeland Security plans to revamp the terror alert system at the end of this month, replacing the current five-colour coding system which has been widely ridiculed.

The new system will be more specific and will contain an expiration date. The plan – revealed in a leaked document – calls for putting the system in place by 27 April.

Homeland Security will also explore new ways of broadcasting the terror alerts to relevant groups which may include the use of Facebook and Twitter.
