VPS announces a new Group CEO, David Taylor-Smith

VPS Group (“VPS” or “the Company”), the vacant property specialists, announces that David Taylor-Smith has been appointed as the Company’s new Group CEO. David is replacing Mark Silver, who is taking up the role of non-executive Chairman of VPS. David will be based in the Company’s new London office and he will start on 23 May 2016.

David has held a number of senior leadership positions in large international business services companies. Most relevantly for VPS, he has significant experience in the security, facilities management and rental sectors and has managed businesses in all the countries where VPS operates.

Most recently, he was the Regional Managing Director for Europe Middle East and Africa for the power rental business, Aggreko plc, where he also sat on the Board of Directors. Prior to that he was the Group COO and Regional CEO for UK and Africa for G4S plc where he worked for 14 years. In the early part of his career, he was a British army officer in a tank regiment. He has run businesses in over 70 countries and lived and worked in eight different countries.

David Taylor-Smith said:

Mark has done an excellent job in leading the business through a period of growth and two different owners, and he now wishes to concentrate on developing a non-executive career. I look forward to working alongside him and the management team to continue the successful development of the Company.”

VPS secures more than 50,000 properties and employs 1,500 staff in locations across the UK and mainland Europe. They specialise in securing, maintaining and managing vacant property across a wide range of customer and industry sectors including retail, pubs, social housing, commercial property and construction sites. Core building services cover the vacant, unoccupied and void property lifecycle from an initial risk assessment, to security, including guarding, CCTV monitoring, clearing, cleaning, maintenance and preparation. These services protect properties against unauthorised access and a variety of hazards such as arson, theft, squatting and unauthorised occupation.
