Tate officer wins BSIA award for "best newcomer"

Emma Bodenham, 22, works for Wilson James Ltd and is based at the TATE Britain Gallery.

She was nominated for the award following her quick transition from the hospitality industry to the security industry where her hard work and dedication has already earned her the position of a trusted member on the security team.

Graham Dunkley, security coordinator at TATE Britain Galley, comments: “Emma has committed a lot of personal effort into making the move into the security industry a smooth one.

“In less than 12 months, Emma has grown in stature and displayed a level of competency that you would expect from a more experienced security officer. She is reliable and has demonstrated that she can act on her own initiative when dealing with incidents. Emma always has a positive attitude and takes pride in her work.”

Piers Warner, head of visitor services and operations at TATE Britain Gallery, adds: “Emma carries out her work in a very calm and professional manner. When dealing with a medical emergency last year she kept everything under control and gave very clear instructions to the 24-hour control room to call for an ambulance. Emma does an excellent job in her role as security officer.”

Winning officer, Emma Bodenham, says: “I am thrilled to accept this award. It is a credit both to myself and the rest of the security team at the TATE Britain Gallery.

“I would like to thank my team leaders and Wilson James for the excellent welcome and training that I have received.”

The BSIA’s Security Personnel Awards are presented regionally throughout the UK, with the winners going forward to the national judging phase.
