AtlasFM

AtlasFM launches new security business

AtlasFM, the privately owned support services company, has launched a dedicated security business – Atlas Security – with an ambition to redefine how people see and experience security services. As a key part of the launch, it has recruited a complete senior executive team led by Gary Stanton, Managing Director, and Sales Director Nick Clegg. Stanton is the former Commercial Director at the Axis Group, while Clegg previously worked for Corps Security as Corporate Account Director. They are joined by Lee Humphries as Operations Director, who has extensive senior operations experience across an array of sectors including corporate, aviation and healthcare. Chris Wisely, Group Managing Director of AtlasFM, said the leadership team brings refreshing experience and dynamism to the market: “All three have worked across every part of the manned guarding business, from front-line delivery through to sales. They know what it means to be a security officer from the ground up, and they know therefore what our customers and our people expect. Wisely believes this ‘hands-on’ experience matters: “They have not been parachuted in from a different industry or given responsibility for something they know little about. They know what works; they know what doesn’t work. And they are determined to radically redefine the manned guarding experience for customers and officers alike. They are looking to build a team, and create partnerships, with likeminded people who can respectfully question the norm and find a better way to deliver a service that they – and we – will all be proud of.” Stanton is looking forward to making a difference: “I am delighted to have the opportunity of working with fellow professionals and a supportive parent group,” he said. “Atlas has an ambition centred around the theme of creating happiness – not in some loose, intangible sense but in a way that can be measured – and this will also be central to Atlas Security because creating happiness for all of our people, our customers and anyone who is touched by the services we deliver, ultimately means a better experience. Stanton said that although the team is young, he believes their youth gives them an advantage: “It means we don’t have to do something ‘just because it’s always been this way’. We believe there is a real space in the current market and the perfect opportunity for our entrepreneurial style and purpose driven approach. “We have a team and the appetite to create something truly special,” he said. “We want to make a real difference to the people who trust us with their own careers, or customers who trust us with their security needs, and that is what we will be committed to doing every single day.” Atlas Security will immediately hit the ground running, assuming responsibility for a portfolio of contracts previously serviced by AtlasFM. As such the leadership team has already been visiting clients and meeting many of the officers across the different locations.   Media contact Rebecca Morpeth Spayne, Editor, Security Portfolio Tel: +44 (0) 1622 823 922 Email: editor@securitybuyer.com

Onboard video systems can increase road safety

Every year, a large number of traffic incidents and crashes occur worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.3 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. There are many factors leading to this: road infrastructure, road users, vehicle speeds, and vehicle safety. Another of these is fatigue and drowsiness at the wheel, which could result in a dangerous situation that jeopardises the safety of driver, passengers, and even pedestrians. According to The Euro Weekly News, the fatigue detection system and other driver assistance system will be mandatory in new cars in 2022, as it says the vast majority of road accidents are caused by human error. So much so, it is critical that actions to improve vehicle safety are taken to promote safe transport for all road users. How a video-based onboard security system can help Hikvision designed and developed its Mobile Onboard Video System to boost vehicle security in comprehensive ways. These range from reliable footage recording and route deviation or speeding alarms, to emergency alarms and abnormal driving behavior analysis. The system offers 360° video coverage both inside and outside a vehicle, providing real-time situational awareness for safe driving. Video footage is reliably transmitted and stored, which can be used as forensic evidence in the event of a traffic accident. It also generates insights such as passenger flow in a public bus, for example, so that passenger distribution can be optimised to improve their comfort. Protecting a range of road vehicles Hikvision’s Onboard Video Security System ensures that typical types of vehicle are well protected, including public buses, school buses, trucks, taxis, and ride-hailing cars. Public buses Buses play an important role in urban transportation. For many people, they provide an indispensable method for their daily commute. Accordingly, the operational efficiency of the bus fleet, its services, and public safety demonstrate new challenges for public transport authorities. Hikvision understands those challenges, and has developed its Bus Solution with two important features. Firstly, passenger flow counting, based on video analytics, allows bus drivers to know the actual number of passengers inside in real time. This is helpful when certain compliance requirements such as social distancing is introduced. If passenger flow exceeds a pre-defined number, an alert can be sent to the operation center for better bus fleet scheduling. This help them to improve service quality and passenger satisfaction. Another feature is abnormal driving behavior detection, which can pick up driver fatigue, as well as smoking in the bus. If these incidents are detected, an alert is sent to the monitoring center in real time, allowing operators to communicate with drivers immediately via two-way audio.   Media contact Rebecca Morpeth Spayne, Editor, Security Portfolio Tel: +44 (0) 1622 823 922 Email: editor@securitybuyer.com

Trellix

Symphony Technology Group launches of Trellix

Symphony Technology Group (STG) announced the launch of Trellix, a new business delivering extended detection and response (XDR) to organisations with a focus on accelerating technology innovation through machine learning and automation. Trellix emerges from the previously announced merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye in October 2021. “We are incredibly excited to have Trellix in the STG portfolio,” said William Chisholm, Managing Partner, STG. “Customers can expect Trellix’s living security platform to deliver bold innovation across the XDR market.” The new name evokes the structure of a trellis, a strong and safe framework used to support structured growth of climbing plants and trees. Trellix will deliver its brand promise to build resilient and confident organisations through living security—security technology that learns and adapts to protect operations from the most advanced threat actors. “As today’s organisations push to achieve digital transformation, a strong security foundation is required to ensure continued innovation, growth and resiliency,” said Bryan Palma, Chief Executive Officer, Trellix. “Trellix’s XDR platform protects our customers as we bring security to life with automation, machine learning, extensible architecture, and threat intelligence.” Trellix’s XDR ecosystem is designed to accelerate the effectiveness of security operations by providing customers with the capability to ingest over six hundred native and open security technologies. By providing security analysts with better insight, granting more control, and delivering comprehensive threat context, analysts can save time and act decisively to remediate threats. “The promise of XDR dramatically improves security efficacy, and the vendors that can deliver on that promise will capture market share,” said Frank Dickson, Program Vice President, Cybersecurity Products, IDC. “However, integrating context and delivering outcomes takes resources and work. It is a monumental effort made possible with the right security partner. With a combined product portfolio that spans endpoint, network, messaging, data protection, and cloud services, Trellix has an impressive multi-technology portfolio to address the promise of XDR.” STG is expected to launch the McAfee Enterprise Secure Service Edge (SSE) portfolio as a separate business later this quarter, inclusive of Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA   Media contact Rebecca Morpeth Spayne, Editor, Security Portfolio Tel: +44 (0) 1622 823 922 Email: editor@securitybuyer.com
