(GRP) single and double doorsets approved to LPS 1175 (Requirements and testing procedures for the LPCB approval and listing of intruder resistant building components, strongpoints, security enclosures and free-standing barriers).

The company is also the first to achieve LPCB approval for a range of GRP enclosures incorporating GRP doorsets.

Kevin Down, Kingsley Plastics Ltd’s Managing Director said: “Being the first GRP company to achieve LPCB certification for GRP enclosures incorporating GRP doorsets is an important milestone in Kingsley Plastics history, and is an important one for the industry.”

He added: “We are equally excited to be the first certified GRP company to market for a wide range of options including standalone single and double leaf outward opening GRP doorsets, which offer great levels of security.”

Kingsley’s Heavy Duty range of doors has achieved Security Ratings 2 and 3.

Physical security products and systems are rated to LPS 1175in terms of the resistance to forced entry they provide against different levels of attack. The Security Rating (SR) system ranges from SR1 to SR8 and is based upon domestic risks (1 and 2), commercial risks (2, 3 and 4), high security risks (5 and 6) and extremely high security facilities (7 and 8).

These ratings are based on the tools and time available to the attacker. The tools range from those that can easily be concealed about a person and used by an opportunist burglar, to larger tools used during a planned attack.

The LPS 1175standard covers the broadest scope of products and services of any publicly available physical security standard in the world. It covers equipment used in all protection layers. The rigorous LPS 1175 approval programme is designed to address risks that may not be adequately covered or may require higher standards than national/international standards.

Richard Flint, LPCB’s Physical Security Certification Scheme Manager said: “Independent third-party certification demonstrates that a company’s product or service does what it is intended to do. Obtaining certificated products from a knowledgeable and well-established certification body, such as LPCB, helps to manage risks by improving products and processes”.
