Training in Advanced Penetration Testing and Exploit Writing

SANS to Offer Training in Advanced Penetration Testing and Exploit Writing in Dubai this November

SANS Gulf Region 2014, the region’s largest InfoSec training event will be offering SANS’ SEC660: Advanced Penetration Testing, Exploit Writing, and Ethical Hacking course as part of a quartet of 6-day training sessions running from the 1st to 13th of November at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah.

SEC660 is designed as a logical progression point for those who have completed introductory penetration testing and ethical hacking, or for those with existing penetration testing experience. The course walks through dozens of real-world attacks used by the most seasoned penetration testers through in-depth and hands-on training sessions. This is the only opportunity to take this globally renowned course in the region for the next twelve months.

The training will led by one of Europe’s best-known and well-respected security experts, James Lyne and will include a range of topics such as weaponizing Python for penetration testers, attacks against network access control (NAC) and VLAN manipulation, network device exploitation, breaking out of Linux and Windows restricted environments, IPv6, Linux privilege escalation and exploit-writing, testing cryptographic implementations, fuzzing, defeating modern OS controls such as ASLR and DEP, Return Oriented Programming (ROP), Windows exploit-writing, and much more.

“This is a hands-on course that goes far beyond simple scanning for low-hanging fruit. We show penetration testers how to model the abilities of an advanced attacker in order to find the significant flaws in a target,” adds Lyne, a Director for EMEA at SANS and Director of Technology Strategy at security firm Sophos, who brings a depth of experience to the course from over a decade working in a technical and a strategic capacity from incident response to forensics with some of the world’s largest organisations.

SANS Dubai 2014 will also host SEC503: Intrusion Detection In-Depth taught by George Bakos. This track gives students the technical knowledge, insight, and hands-on training needed to confidently defend networks.

SANS instructor James Tarala will be teaching AUD507: Auditing & Monitoring Networks, Perimeters & Systems which helps students learn a risk driven method for tackling the enormous task of designing an enterprise security validation program. After covering a variety of high level audit issues and general audit best practice, the students will have the opportunity to dive deep into the technical “how to” for determining the key controls that can be used to provide a level of assurance to an organisation.

The popular SEC401: Security Essentials Bootcamp Style also returns to Dubai, offering an opportunity to learn the language and underlying theory of computer security. The updated course also includes essential, up-to-the-minute knowledge and skills required for people responsible for securing systems and organisations.

Places remain available on all courses but numbers are limited so SANS recommend registering online as soon as possible. More information can be found at www.sans.org/event/gulf-region-2014/
