A customised solution case study for a residential complex is presented by DoorBird and CompuNet Systems GmbH
In Lübeck, just a short distance from the historic Holsten Gate, a modern and centrally located residential neighborhood called “Neue Wallufer” has been created. Situated idyllically along the city canal, the area combines peaceful surroundings with urban convenience. The development comprises four buildings with a total of 74 apartments in various sizes, designed to suit singles, couples, and families alike.
CompuNet Systems GmbH, a specialist in project management, network infrastructure, and telecommunications, was selected as the technology partner responsible for the electrical installations. One of their key tasks was to implement a modern, secure, and user-friendly door communication system tailored to both functional and aesthetic requirements.
Requirements
✓ Easy and remote management of tenant names
✓ App-based access control for residents
✓ Door station colour matching the existing doors and mailboxes
A DoorBird Solution with Custom Colouring
The goal was to equip each building with a video door intercom system that was not only state-of-the-art in functionality but also aligned visually with the established architectural design. Since the colours of the entrance doors and mailboxes were already chosen, it was essential that the door stations blend seamlessly into the overall look.
DoorBird was selected due to its flexibility in design and advanced technology. While the company already offers over 50 standard finishes, they also provide custom coatings upon request. For the Neue Wallufer project, four D21DKV IP Video Door Stations were produced in RAL 1036 (pearl gold) – a finish that perfectly matched the project’s elegant exterior design.
Each of the four installed stations features an HD camera, a display, and a keypad module. The tenant directory can be managed digitally and in real-time, eliminating the need for on-site personnel during tenant changes. Visitors can search for and select names via the display or enter a PIN code for access.
Residents benefit from multiple communication options: they can answer doorbell calls through the DoorBird app on their smartphones or tablets or use one of the 78 DoorBird IP Video Indoor Stations installed throughout the apartments – typically one or two units per home – for a fixed, in-home interface.
Results and Benefits
The installed system offers numerous advantages. Building management gains flexibility and efficiency through centralised digital name management. Residents enjoy convenience, security, and modern design aesthetics. The customised finish of the door stations enhances the visual cohesion of the buildings, while advanced technology improves everyday life for occupants.
Conclusion
The collaboration between CompuNet Systems GmbH and DoorBird resulted in a tailored, future-ready door communication system for the Neue Wallufer residential complex. The combination of high-end functionality, aesthetic integration, and digital control sets new standards in modern residential infrastructure. The project showcases how thoughtful technology deployment can significantly enhance both the practical and visual quality of living spaces.
