UK Security Expo to focus on counter terrorism for FMs
UK Security Expo, 30 Nov – 1 Dec 2016, London Olympia
Businesses across the west are facing a prolonged period of terrorist threat but many FMs are not given the help they need to evaluate the risks to their buildings and then understand what they should do about them.
UK Security Expo (30 Nov – 1 Dec, Olympia, London) provides a key focus on facilities and emergency planning with a free to attend workshop, Counter Terrorism for Facilities Managers covering everything FMs need to know to protect their business.
Chris Phillips, former Head of NaCTSO, who is leading the workshop comments:
“It’s a fact that FMs often come into their role without a security background but make important security decisions and purchases. Be assured the plans you have to react to a fire may well be the last thing you want to do in the event of a terrorist incident.”
A panel of expert speakers including Jim MacKenzie, Special Adviser, Centre for Risk-Reducing Design, David Cox, European Channel Manager – Window Film, 3M, Peter Joyce, Chair of the London Branch, EPS and Caroline Field, Head of Risk and Resilience at BuroHappold Engineering will demonstrate how to make a building terrorism resistant, communicating in a crisis and the importance of building links with safety and security.
The Designing out Terrorism conferences includes specialist sessions relevant to FMs on SABRE, intelligent buildings and mitigating the terrorist threat. A Crisis Management training workshop delivered by NYA requires attendees to structure a response to an unfolding crisis incident and the Securing Crowded Places Immersive Demonstrator in association with the Home Office, JSaRC and CPNI uses the event venue itself as the place to be protected.
Peter Jones, Chief Executive, Nineteen Events added:
“FMs, along with security and safety managers, are part of the frontline when dealing with a terrorist threat. UK Security Expo offers a number of events which will provide FMs with the tools they need to deal with the challenges ahead.”
