Following work with the American Border Patrol, a partner of AirLive has developed a remote IP-based border surveillance camera system and has further developed methods of counting the number of people to cross the border between ports of entry since 2009. For this project, installed in the north border of Mexico, AirLive worked with this partner to develop a feature-rich, cost-effective solution to complete the border security project.
Border surveillance and protection requires round the clock surveillance with cameras capable of day and night vision to scan large areas to detect and track unauthorised intruders – be they hostile forces, terrorists, smugglers or illegal immigrants. The border’s terrain also provides unique challenges as it it varies between mountains, shoreline, sea and urban areas.
The Challenge
- Broad and Uncovered Space – The border is long, wide urban area and open space – all of these areas must be carefully monitored.
- Illegal Trade Prevention – In order to ease customs and prevent illegal trade along the border, the government was eager to adopt a more efficient method using advanced megapixel surveillance instead of spending a lot of resources on manpower for surveillance.
- Integration of Solutions – Integration does provide challenges, such as identifying which dvices are causing recording malfunctions, the camera or the VMS? Or is it storage performance, not the device that is degrading?
The Solution
Our client chose to integrate AirLive SD-2020 cameras with its border “identiseis” technology. The AirLive SD-2020 cameras were installed 500 ft. north of the Mexican border in a drug smuggling corridor. With AirLive SD-2020’s auto pan/preset/sequence/cruise functions and high-speed pan/tilt mechanism, surveillance operatives could can easily set the cameras to monitor large areas with only one AirLive SD-2020 and track any unexpected object or person with crystal clear video quality. Optional Smart Tracking functions can also be set to auto detect any unauthorised moving object during the night.
