ASFINAG selects Teleste for its motorway network

ASFINAG, the Austrian road administration, has selected Teleste as provider of a complete renewal and expansion of the road video management system covering the whole of Austria. The new system will be licensed for 6000 camera connections and Teleste’s next generation video management system, S-VMX, will be deployed for the project during 2015-2016. Covering the whole Austrian motorway network, the system is used for the security and safety of users and it will, among others, interconnect tunnel security and intelligent transportation systems.

The project covers system engineering, design, hardware and software deliveries as well as migration services from ASFINAG’s existing video system. The contract value is worth about EUR 2 million and it includes three years of maintenance. In addition the project includes an option to extend the maintenance by seven additional years.

The ASFINAG motorway and clearway network currently comprises around 2200 km. ASFINAG’s responsibility area includes construction and planning of new road projects, operation and maintenance of the existing network as well as collecting tolls and developing telematics services. The priorities with regard to construction and planning are increased road safety, improved international connections between Austria and bordering countries and the implementation of road network upgrades.
