‘Security – Whatever the Cuts’ is the title for this year’s free annual Manchester Security event, which will focus on providing businesses with valuable insight as how investing in security solutions during an economic downturn will help them reduce losses associated with threats such as theft and vandalism.

This free exhibition with seminar is opened to anyone concerned about security, providing an opportunity to keep up to date on the latest security developments and giving advice on how to protect businesses and staff against crime in times of financial instability. Keynote speakers will also address the latest policing model, the terrorist threat to business and how others tackle the challenges of ever changing crime and disorder.

The event will take place on Wednesday the 13th of April 2011 at The Bridgewater Hall, Lower Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3WS, and will be opened by Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan from Greater Manchester Police. A comprehensive seminar programme will include speakers from Greater Manchester Police, Cityco, North West Counter Terrorist Unit, and Securitas Security Services Ltd.

James Kelly, Chief Executive of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), comments: “Security breaches such as theft and vandalism are financially onerous and can have an effect on customer service levels, downtime and, potentially, customer deliveries and production processes. It is therefore important that the security aspects of a business are not overlooked, as investing in the protection of your premises will provide long-term cost savings by dramatically reducing the likelihood of crimes occurring.”

“This free event is not to be missed for Manchester businesses, who will be able to find out about the latest security, business continuity and counter terrorism issues in order to better protect their premises, staff and customers. There is also a free exhibition, which will offer visitors the chance to learn about a wide range of security products and services.”

Phil Yates, Chairman of Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel, adds: “Businesses are now more than ever falling victim to various acts of crimes and threats, so security is of paramount importance. This event will offer you the latest advice from a range of policing and security professionals to help you better protect your business and make the necessary preparations to help prevent crime.”

The event, sponsored by Securitas Security Services Ltd, is organised in partnership with Greater Manchester Police, the Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel, the BSIA, Greater Manchester Chamber and Manchester City Council. The doors open at 9am and entry to the event is free of charge.
