Contract Fire Security (CFS), the national provider of fire, safety and security has increased its national presence with the opening of its first Scottish base in East Kilbride and taken on a further 50 engineers across the UK.

The expansion completes a successful year, which saw CFS reach its twenty five year milestone and win a string of new customers requiring nationwide presence.

Steve and Gary Quirke, the brothers who formed CFS in 1985 and are joint managing directors, have taken CFS from a £12 million turnover in 2008 to a £20 million company in the last year.  They attribute their growth to offering an exceptional personal service that is tailored to meet the fire and safety requirements of all customers, small and large.

As Steve Quirke explains, “Our focus is on providing our customers with the total solution for safety and security and as the requirements have become more complex we have added additional services, which has led to further business opportunities.  Our passion to move the business forward has led to ten acquisitions in recent years that has provided us with wider choice and increased our presence across the UK.”

CFS now looks after fire and security systems for 32,000 sites in the UK, 250 sites in Europe, employs 259 employees and has developed its own directly employed and trained engineers to 180 to offer the geographical coverage required to service clients.

The opening of the Scottish base is to service existing clients, such as Scottish Heritage and grow CFS in Scotland.  In recent years, the company has opened offices in London and Bagshot to increase profile in the South.

Joint Managing Director Gary Quirke believes CFS will increase its turnover to £25 million in the next financial year, which starts in April.  He said “We have worked hard to be at the leading edge of our sector and have focused on the environmental impact of fire and safety in line with our ISO14001 environmental accreditation.

“We will continue to expand our service to customers and increase the intensity of engineers across the UK with the aim to gain more customers through a clear, focused service approach.”

About
Contract Fire Security was founded in 1985 by brothers Steven and Gary Quirke.  As qualified engineers themselves, the emphasis from the very start was that as a family business they wanted to build a reputation for quality both in the service CFS provided and the products used.

In the early years of the business, the company specialised in electronic fire protection but throughout the 1990’s the company diversified through acquisition and recruitment of key personnel to become the company it is today, an integrated solution provider for all elements of fire and security.

From starting a small business over a greengrocers shop in the West Midlands, to our purpose built National Headquarters in Sutton Coldfield took 20 years hard work but the lessons learnt along the way has ensured that those early “family values” remain.
