ExMesh™, an industry leading manufacturer of perimeter fencing systems, is to launch an “Approved Contractor” scheme later this year to provide fencing installation contractors with high levels of support in selling and installing their fence and gate systems. Ultimately, the desired outcome is for fencing contractors to have the skills and knowledge required to deliver customers with the highest quality installations of ExMesh™ products throughout the UK.
The ExMesh security range, was borne out of the long established ‘Expamet Security Products’ range which has been successfully sold into the UK fencing market for over 30 years through thousands of installations. The decision to rebrand was taken in late 2014 to reflect the changing shape of the business as it focuses on the medium to high security sectors and expands into new territories across Europe.
Additionally, “The new ‘Approved Contractor’ scheme is a result of feedback from both our contractor partners and customers who want the assurance that these critical perimeter fencing systems are installed to meet the highest quality and safety standards,” says Stephen Shears, MD for The Expanded Metal Company, owners and manufacturers of the ExMesh brand of products.
“To this end, we have invested in a new training facility at our Hartlepool site and created a two-day course syllabus run by our own in-house expert trainers that offers both hands on skills and technical theory across our extensive range of products based on ISO best practice processes.”
ExMesh will be covering the cost of training for existing partners who have shown a commitment to meeting quality and best practice, “We will also extend the offer to partners who have a long standing relationship with us, but may not have previously invested in accreditation programs – we want to help these firms to clearly differentiate themselves as a trusted partner to customers and provide a valuable seal of accreditation based on expertise,” Stephen adds.
The first training course planned for November will include five partners, each providing two attendees for the two-day course. Successful completion will provide Approved Contractors with modest discounts on future orders of ExMesh products. “The course will be backed up by random audits of site installations to provide confidence that Approved Contractors deliver the highest standard of workmanship and we will also encourage partners to attend future courses as products and technologies evolve,” Stephen added.
The new scheme has been welcomed by a number of ExMesh installers including Richard Atter, MD for Securafen who commented, “ExMesh and the earlier Expamet products have proven incredibly popular and have always been engineered to the highest standards. We hope this scheme will provide customers with the assurance that the installers working with ExMesh on critical projects are also certified to the highest standard.”
Richard added, “We applaud the move to create this new scheme which is good news for partners like ourselves that have delivered hundreds of successful projects and would rather compete on quality rather than just a price.”
ExMesh and The Expanded Metal Company have shown an outstanding dedication to delivering quality. The British Standards Institution has awarded the company a BS EN ISO 9001:2008 quality Systems Certificate which ensures quality production, distribution and customer service. The Expanded Metal Company also holds BS EN ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems Certificate and Expanded Metal Fencing Systems can be specified using the relevant British Standard – BS 1722, part 14 guidelines.
In 2002 The Expanded Metal Company became the first fencing manufacturer in the UK to achieve “Secured by Design” accreditation, the UK’s police flagship initiative supporting the principles of designing out crime. Secured by Design identifies technical standards and evaluations, which test the competence of security products and their resistance to criminal attack put forward by the police service as “Police Preferred Specification.”
