Security industry leaders to discuss the implications of the PD6662:2010 scheme in a new series of open seminars

Leading organisations from across the security industry are to impart their shared expertise at a forthcoming series of seminars entitled PD6662: The Industry Debate, aimed at educating a wider audience about the implications of the PD6662 scheme relating to hold-up and intruder alarms.

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) will be joined by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) and Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), as well as the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and its Scottish counterpart, ACPOS, in a series of presentations and debates surrounding the new scheme, which became a requirement to use on 1st June this year.

David Wilkinson, Technical Manager at the BSIA, explains: “Following the success of our previous presentations, which were delivered at the time of the PD6662 implementation, we wanted to follow up with a review of the details of the scheme, focusing on the key issues such as alarm confirmation and remote maintenance.”

Less technical in nature than their predecessors, this round of presentations aims to appeal to a wider audience, including installers and their customers, end-users, insurers and police.

“This is an excellent opportunity to hear from the key players in the implementation of the scheme and also learn more about how it fits in to the ACPO and ACPOS policies,” adds David.

Education and debate is at the heart of this programme, with a Q&A session designed to enable delegates to share their own experiences of the PD6662 scheme, and obtain advice and guidance directly from the industry’s trade body, inspectorates and Police.

Manufacturers of PD6662 compliant products will also be on hand to provide practical demonstrations of the products and how they work.

Four seminars are planned, taking place across the country in the following locations:

South East (Heathrow) – 18th October

North (Rochdale) – 23rd October

Midlands (Henley-in-Arden) – 6th November

Scotland (Glasgow) – 14th November

Details of costs and how to book can be downloaded from the BSIA’s website http://www.bsia.co.uk/web_images/documents/events_2012/PD6662_delegate_bf.pdf
