Into the Cloud – Colleen Walsh

In our September edition of International Security Buyer, we got to know Colleen Walsh, PR and Communications Manager of Codelocks in our Into the Cloud series.

What does ‘security’ mean to you?

On a basic level, security means me and my loved ones are protected from harm and we can create a sense of safety and stability in various aspects of our lives.

What does your dream home look like?

I grew up spending my summers on lakes, so my dream home would have to be somewhere on a lake with a wrap-around balcony for early morning coffee and evening sunsets. It would also have a wood-burning fireplace, the perfect outdoor entertainment area and a putting green.

If you could have dinner with any three people, past or present, who would it be?

If I can count The Beatles as one person, it would be them, Daniel Radcliffe and Mia Hamm. I’d love to meet C.S. Lewis if all The Beatles couldn’t make it.

Describe a funny thing that happened to you recently?

My husband and I are first-time parents, so there are funny things that happen to us on an almost hourly basis, so hard to pinpoint a specific moment. To our daughter, it seems that everything we do is funny, and those giggles are priceless!

What three traits define you?

Resilient, thoughtful and loyal

What’s the most important trend you see today?

With the emphasis on cybersecurity and internet protection, the ability for smart locks to not have to connect to WiFi to work is important.

If you didn’t work in security, what would you be doing?

My early college aspiration was to be a sports reporter. I grew up watching Erin Andrews on ESPN every night and always wanted to be her.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your CV?

I come from a large extended family. I have 12 uncles, 12 aunts and 29 first cousins! I am fortunate to be surrounded by so many family members!

What is one thing you would make compulsory in the office and one thing you would ban?

I would make sure there are unlimited refreshments – Always need to have options! I would ban floating desk spaces. I like to have my own area to work and couldn’t imagine going to work every day and sitting at a different desk.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Life is going to throw some pretty tough curveballs, but you have some incredible people in your life, and I promise that it will all work out. Also, try and let loose a little!
