IPSA Appoint Frontline Hero as Ambassador

Abdullah, the courageous security officer praised for foiling a horrific knife attack at Leicester Square, has been appointed as Frontline Ambassador and Champion by the International Professional Security Association (IPSA). This prestigious role recognises Abdullah’s exceptional bravery, commitment, and professionalism demonstrated during the attack on August 12, where he courageously intervened to save lives.

Abdullah, 29, was on duty at the TWG Tea Shop in Leicester Square when he heroically intervened in an attack against an 11-year-old Australian girl and her 34-year-old mother. He successfully disarmed the 32-year-old suspect, Ioan Pintaru, who allegedly had the girl in a headlock and had stabbed her eight times. Pintaru has since been charged with attempted murder, and Abdullah’s bravery has earned widespread acclaim.

Reflecting on his actions, Abdullah stated: “This is our country, we came here as a choice, so we are protectors, not attackers.”

Originally from Abbottabad, northern Pakistan, Abdullah initially came to the UK to study for a master’s degree in project management. After struggling to secure a role in his chosen field, Abdullah began working in security—a job he proudly enjoys, stating: “I’m protecting people.”

Abdullah’s heroism has been celebrated internationally, notably recognised at the Pakistani High Commission. He described the overwhelming support from his homeland, saying: “They’re saying: ‘Well done Abdullah, hero of Leicester Square.’ All of my relatives, friends are going to my home in Pakistan and meeting my parents, my siblings. It’s just like Eid, people are coming there and celebrating like: ‘Your son has made our whole country proud.'”

Conservative peer Lord Aamer Sarfraz praised Abdullah as a “real-life hero” whose “actions have single-handedly shut down the narrative of the far-right protesters.”

Lord Sarfraz added: “His bravery also sheds light on the largely unsung workforce of security officers, who protect us every day, without ever really being recognised.”

Statement from Abdullah, Frontline Ambassador and Champion, IPSA:

“It is an incredible honour to be appointed as Frontline Ambassador and Champion of the International Professional Security Association (IPSA). This recognition not only humbles me but reinforces my commitment to the security profession and the important work that security professionals do every day to protect our communities.

“Reflecting on the events at Leicester Square last summer, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to continue serving the public alongside my fellow frontline security officers and professionals, ensuring we remain vigilant and prepared. Our role goes beyond reacting to threats—it’s about prevention, awareness, and constant readiness.

“As Frontline Ambassador and Champion, I am committed to advocating for the safety and well-being of our communities, raising awareness of the vital role security professionals play, and inspiring future generations. Together, we can make our world a safer place. Thank you to IPSA for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to making a meaningful difference.”

Statement from Satia, CEO of IPSA:

“It is with great honour and immense respect that we announce the appointment of Abdullah as the new Frontline Ambassador and Champion at IPSA. This appointment recognises Abdullah’s exceptional bravery, commitment, and professionalism in the face of adversity.

“During the tragic events at Leicester Square last summer, Abdullah demonstrated extraordinary courage and presence of mind, successfully preventing further harm. His quick thinking and selfless actions exemplify the very best of our industry and highlight the importance of proactive security measures.

“At IPSA, our mission is to give frontline security officers a voice, ensuring their dedication, skill, and bravery are recognised and valued. Abdullah’s appointment helps achieve that mission, raising awareness of frontline security work and inspiring the next generation of security professionals.

“We look forward to working closely with Abdullah and are confident he will make a lasting impact. On behalf of the entire IPSA team, I congratulate Abdullah on this well-deserved role and welcome him to our Exec Board.”
