LogPoint’s SIEM technology to safeguard customer data at popular theatre and gallery complex in Manchester

LogPoint, the first European provider of SIEM-technology, has recently deployed its SIEM solution at theatre and gallery complex The Lowry in Greater Manchester. As well as utilising the technology to automate its Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance process and prepare for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018, The Lowry is safeguarding its customers’ data through enhanced diagnostics, helping the arts centre identify and deal with network anomalies swiftly and effectively.
“We’ve found LogPoint’s SIEM solution to be an invaluable diagnostic, compliance and safeguarding tool that is relied upon every day,” states Darren Mullin, IT Manager at The Lowry. “Not only is it more cost-effective and advanced than our previous SIEM solution, the support LogPoint provided has been second-to-none. In order to achieve a true return on investment (ROI), we need to ensure SIEM effectively. Going beyond compliance, our team regularly use its advanced diagnostic capabilities. Day-to-day file access, email analysis and network monitoring queries are dealt with quickly and effortlessly, delivering ROI through hours of saved time management.”
The Lowry had already been using a SIEM solution for PCI compliance and diagnostic purposes, so when it made the decision to upgrade, it was imperative that the new system could replicate the additional diagnostic functions. The Lowry’s IT team commented that LogPoint’s SIEM tool has now become indispensable to the department. As well as being more cost-effective, the search function offers a significant improvement from the previous deployment, collating and normalising logs at a faster pace, as well as being intuitive and easy to use.
Darren Mullin continues, “The team regularly uses the SIEM tool to collate and normalise logs for outbound emails to generate reports. Utilising this feature, the SIEM tool has already alerted managers to a network anomaly, as well as pinpointing a problem, resulting in a fix before sales and customer services were affected.”
Graeme Stewart, Managing Director of LogPoint UK & Ireland, states, “We understand that many businesses first step into SIEM usage for compliance purposes, and it is often not until the software is installed that many realise the true ROI SIEM can bring. For that reason, we’re thrilled that The Lowry is utilising SIEM beyond compliance and has recognised its effectiveness in diagnostics, email and network monitoring. Going forward, the arts centre is also planning to use SIEM to help audit its network of printers and identify which are used most often, potentially saving on maintenance costs. We look forward to helping The Lowry realise the additional value of SIEM beyond compliance.”
