OPTEX’s REDSCAN Lite delivers ultra-fast, reliable LiDAR detection, enhancing security in datacentres, offices and high-risk environments with precision technology
OPTEX’s latest innovation from its award-winning REDSCAN LiDAR series, the REDSCAN Lite RLS-1010L, delivers ultra-fast, precise edge-to-edge detection in spaces many other technologies simply can’t reach.
Designed specifically for short-range applications in high-risk security zones, the new sensor uses advanced time-of-flight (TOF) technology to accurately and precisely detect intruders within a range of 10mx10m in just 100 milliseconds. The REDSCAN Lite’s performance is also unaffected by changes across lighting, temperature – even within complete darkness, ensuring reliable protection among all indoor environments.
The sensor also has the option to be mounted horizontally to create invisible laser planes, best used for ceiling or skylights for example, or vertically to form laser walls that can be used for the tiny gaps between datacentre racks or ventilation shafts. With high-resolution and ultra-fast detection, from stationary to fast-moving objects, it means any object crossing the detection beam is instantly detected.
Engineered to meet the strictest security standards, the REDSCAN Lite is encapsulated within a compact, discreet and an installer-friendly design. These key features include an optional Laser Alignment Tool which helps to visualise the detection area during setup and ensures the sensor is correctly setup. Alongside this, an Automatic Area Correction setting prevents overspill outside the detection zone, and an LED status indicator provides instant alignment feedback. To adjust the LiDAR angle there are ergonomic side jobs which can be rotated – without requiring any power.
Further configuration is also simple thanks to a streamlined web interface allowing parameter adjustments to be based on the alarm history, helping to refine detection and further avoid false and nuisance alarms.
The REDSCAN Lite was built to address the ever-evolving needs of high-security sites. With high security spaces becoming tighter due to filling racks and processors, the new sensor has been designed to meet the specific need for rapid detection in these small, narrow spaces where high security is crucial. For example, in datacentres the sensor can be configured to create an invisible laser wall alongside server racks, ventilation shafts and other critical areas to detect the insertion of USB drives, LAN cables or other devices through the server racks. Blending in seamlessly into modern environments, the REDSCAN Lite is also ideal for modern office spaces without disrupting aesthetics. With expansive glass walls, accessible windows and open turnstile access points, it can be installed above or along these access points and instantly alert security systems to any unauthorised entry attempts.
Recognising its impact on the security industry, the REDSCAN Lite has been selected as a finalist in the Security Buyer Readers’ Awards. Voting is now open via securitybuyer.com, giving readers the chance to show support for this innovative product and cast their vote today.
