Sky Deutschland streamlines administration with Net2

Sky Deutschland is a German media company which operates a Direct Broadcast Pay TV platform in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, offering a collection of digital subscription television channels.

Sky Deutschland is part of the international Sky PLC. The Sky Deutschland Customer Service Centre, located just outside of Berlin in Teltow employs over 400 staff who work onsite.

Requirements

Sky Deutschland acquired the site in Teltow in 2012. It was important to Sky that their security system was easy to manage and access. They wanted a flexible security solution that would be able to grow with the business, effective access management was also an important requirement. With large volumes of staff arriving at the Customer Service Centre to work different shift patterns, a time and attendance log was essential to streamline administration. The new system would also need to manage visitor access, modifying individual access permissions around the site.

Solution

Sky opted to secure the premises with Net2, Paxton’s smart, networked access control system, designed to make the management of any building incredibly easy. The userfriendly system, provides features that move beyond the basics of controlling the flow of people, offering benefits such as building control and system integration.

Sky’s Net2 system was built with Net2 plus door control units, and P50 readers to control access to 15 external and internal doors. Net2 plus is Paxton’s most advanced door control unit, employing the use of PoE technology to plug straight into an existing network with no need for additional wiring making installation quick.

Sky was drawn to Paxton due to the simplicity of the Net2 user interface, easy install and license free software. Sky felt confident that there would be no additional costs to consider and that their system would be fully supported by Paxton.

Result

Sky’s Net2 system has now been installed on 15 doors at their Customer Service Centre, the system is integrated with SAP SE. SAP is an enterprise software that takes the live data from Net2. The system records when staff start and end their shifts, and manages Sky’s business operations and payroll systems. The live data from Net2 is processed once a day so that it always has the most up to date information for payroll.

James Bergmann, IT Support Coordinator at Sky, says:

“The integration makes it easy to track the hours people have worked as well as securing our offices, our data is now much more accurate and it has significantly streamlined our payroll.”

Sky have plans to expand their Net2 system to include integrating with their intruder alarms and their underground carpark, further streamlining the management of their building.
