Public Law Enforcement/Private Security Partnership Day Announced

ASIS International, the National Sheriffs’ Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police, announce the formation of the Annual International Public Law Enforcement/Private Security Partnership Day. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA), and ASIS International (ASIS) are very pleased to announce the initiation of the Public Law Enforcement/Private Security Partnership Day. Public-Private Partnership Day is a long-term collaborative effort between all three founding organizations and was approved by the boards of directors from all three partner organizations. It will occur on the fourth Thursday of April every year, with the inaugural Public-Private Partnership Day occurring on Thursday, April 25, 2024. The mission of Public-Private Partnership Day is to foster and support the development of strong, robust, and enduring partnerships between the public safety community and the private security professions. A shining example of such a partnership is the New York City Police Department (NYPD) SHIELD program, a public-private partnership liaison program between the NYPD and New York City’s private and public sectors that has been instrumental in the fight against terrorism and criminal activity. The program has led to significant improvements in public safety and has become a model for similar programs globally. Through these partnerships, leaders in the private security profession can collaborate with the leaders of the law enforcement and public safety community, and vice-versa. The result of this collaboration and knowledge-sharing has significantly improved the level of safety, security and protection of people, property, and information. Building and maintaining strong public-private partnership programs is essential in fighting the ever-increasing onslaught of all global criminal activity, from theft, to terrorism, to massive and crippling cyber-attacks. Leaders from the IACP, the NSA, and ASIS are committed to making Public-Private Partnership Day a meaningful day of recognition to showcase effective partnerships worldwide. The upcoming inaugural Partnership Day will forge a strong foundation and serve as an incentive for new and enhanced partnerships. Read more exclusives and news in our latest issue here. VIVOTEK Features VORTEX AI at GSX

VIVOTEK announced that it will feature its acclaimed cloud-based video-centric safety and security solution, VORTEX, during GSX 2023, held in Dallas from Sept. 11-13 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, booth #3010. VORTEX was launched in the United States late in 2022. “VORTEX has been incredibly successful since its launch last year,” said Albert Lin, who was recently named VIVOTEK USA General Manager, beginning on August 1. “Since early 2000, we have witnessed multiple generational technology shifts in the industry. Almost with certainty in every shift, we see new products introduced, new business models emerged, and the competition landscape changed. VORTEX is VIVOTEK’s next generation cloud platform that meshes video data, AI, big data, and cloud into a cohesive and powerful safety and security solution.” At GSX 2023, VORTEX safety and security service introduces a new feature called “Profile Search”. This exciting new function allows users to create a profile with the image(s) of a person’s face and then search that person by those face image(s) within a profile. The profile’s face image(s) can be uploaded by a user and can be searched in the recorded footage within a single site or across multiple sites. VORTEX’s Profile Search further improves the usability of AI technology, reduces cost and overhead on forensic data collection, and empowers security integrators to modernize their security operation. Also during GSX 2023, VIVOTEK adds the MS930-EHV to the VORTEX edge hardware portfolio, providing an extensive class-leading camera that redefines the systems’ possibilities. Equipped with WDR Pro technology, two wide-angle lenses, advanced electronic image stitching, and high-resolution dual-sensor design, this 8MP 180 degree unlocks a higher vertical field of view (FOV), providing unmatched video coverage. This expanded FOV empowers users to capture crucial evidence below the camera’s installation point, another testament to VIVOTEK’s capabilities of offering a wide range of edge camera options for its cloud-based platform and service. “VORTEX is a comprehensive end-to-end AI surveillance solution that seamlessly integrates deep-learning-based network cameras, cloud video management software, and caters to the diverse needs of business applications,” Lin concluded. “We are excited to introduce these new features and hardware at GSX 2023, continuously adding new value for VORTEX, VIVOTEK partners, and users through this evolving platform.” Lin Named VIVOTEK USA General Manager “We are pleased to welcome Albert to help lead VIVOTEK USA as its new general manager,” said Alex Liao, VIVOTEK president. “He has a long and impressive history in national channels and cloud-based service within the security sector, including leading roles with Hikvision, Nortek Security & Control, and others leading them to heightened sales and prosperity in the American marketplace.
