Timber doorset meets PAS24 with ASSA ABLOY UK.

ASSA ABLOY UK has tested a timber doorset with a range of ASSA ABLOY hardware to the PAS24 standard.

A UNION sashlock from its Optimus3 range was fitted in the timber doorset, offering high performance security, ideal for use in social housing, residential care home and student accommodation. It is also suitable for uniform door preparation in large-scale projects.

The doorset also featured bespoke door handles, as well as hinges from the ASSA ABLOY Specification Skyline range, which combine aesthetics with function, ergonomics, safety and longevity.

ASSA ABLOY’s DC840 concealed door closer with Cam-Motion technology was used within the PAS24 test. The door closer would assist the user with the lowest possible opening forces, while retaining a high closing force.

The rigorous testing process, which took place in the ASSA ABLOY UKAS accredited test lab, provided the benchmarks to show the doorsets offer ‘Enhanced Security’, providing protection against attack within a variety of environments, including education, commercial and retail.

Having undergone timed manual attacking methods, hard and soft body impact tests, and static load testing up to 4500N, the doorsets were successfully tested to PAS24.

Tim Almond, Commercial Manager – OEM for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said:

“The Optimus3 mortice lock provided the level of security needed for the doorset to be tested to PAS24. The Optimus3 range is specifically designed to be quick and easy to install for the contract market and is ideal for use where high performance and aesthetics are critical.

“Timber doorsets are ideal for specification in residential applications, as they offer an unassuming appearance, ensuring the accommodation provides a relaxing environment, while ensuring residents’ personal belongings are protected.”
