Videx: High quality, Italian Manufacturing

Edoardo Marcantoni, Executive Manager, Videx Electronics deep dives into the IPure system and its benefits for the end-user and installer

Videx Electronics, an Italian company, has been a leader in designing and manufacturing intercom, video intercom, and door entry systems since 1986. Under the leadership of the Marcantoni family, Videx has carved a niche in the market by focusing on innovation, quality, and customer-centric solutions. One of their flagship products, the IPure system, exemplifies their commitment to excellence and technological advancement in access control.

The IPure system stands out in the market due to its unique features and the proprietary technology that Videx has meticulously developed. Unlike many competitors who rely on re-labelled or OEM products, Videx owns the intellectual property for every piece of hardware and software within the IPure system. This comprehensive control over their product line ensures superior flexibility, long-term value, and robust customer support. The system is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing security and building management systems, supporting various protocols like RTSP, HTTPS, SIP, and MQTT. This ensures that professionals can create customised, interoperable solutions that meet specific client needs.

One of the key benefits of the IPure system is its emphasis on security and user convenience. Videx has embedded advanced cybersecurity measures, including encryption protocols, to protect against unauthorised access and ensure secure communication between devices and the cloud. Additionally, the system is cost-effective for end-users as Videx does not impose any license fees for IPure software and cloud services, providing transparent and predictable costs.

Manufacturing in Italy also plays a crucial role in maintaining the high quality and appeal of Videx products. By internalising production, Videx ensures control over their supply chain and manufacturing processes, which proved vital during the Covid-19 pandemic when international trade disruptions affected many industries. This approach guarantees that Videx can consistently meet customer demands and maintain product availability even during crises.

Videx positions itself against market commoditisation by focusing on professional-grade products designed for installers and system integrators who seek reliability and advanced functionality. The IPure system, with its high-quality materials and user-friendly design, reflects this commitment to premium branding. Moreover, Videx incorporates continuous customer feedback into its R&D processes, ensuring that their products evolve to meet the changing needs of users.

Security Buyer caught up with Edoardo Marcantoni, Executive Manager to find out more about how Videx Electronics’ dedication to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction makes their access control products, particularly the IPure system, indispensable in modern security and building management solutions.

Please introduce yourself and Videx Electronics?

My name is Edoardo Marcantoni, together with my family we are the owners of Videx Electronics S.p.A., Italian leading designer and manufacturers of Intercoms, Video Intercoms and Door Entry Systems, since 1986.

We are here to talk about the unique IPure solution. What are some of the unique features of the IPure system that differentiate it from OEM and re-labelled products in the market?

IPure is the name we have given to our very own native TCP/IP based Door Entry System. Our R&D team has designed every piece of hardware and developed every single firmware and software line of code. Most of our competitors do not own anything of the intellectual property supposedly present into their products and this makes a huge difference. When it comes to system flexibility, value for money over time and customer support, IPure has very small comparables set.

Flexibility and longevity for end-users is key. How does IPure ensure compatibility and interoperability with existing security and building management systems?

We strongly believe that the ultimate rationale of implementing IP technology for the use cases of door entry and access control is about integration and interoperability. We, as specialised manufacturer of professional grade equipment, must make sure that the professionals can use all the market acknowledged protocols (RTSP, HTTPS, SIP, MQTT…) to make integration happen.

Professionals want to choose the best of breed of every system type and integrate all together to create the perfect experience for the end users.

If all above does not hold true, there’s no point of IP technology at all….
