WD and Smartvue provide remote monitoring of CCTV cameras

WD®, a Western Digital® company, and world leader in storage solutions, has announced that its My Cloud™ EX2 and My Cloud EX4 multi-bay network attached storage (NAS) solutions now integrate with the Smartvue surveillance platforms to enable remote video monitoring and management of IP cameras.

“With our expert series of My Cloud products we designed a great solution for creative professionals, pro-sumers and small businesses to save, share, back up, stream and manage their growing libraries of digital data,” said Jim Welsh, executive vice president, WD Content Solutions Business and worldwide sales. “We recognize surveillance video as a growing component in that digital library for many of our customers and the Smartvue integration will make it simple to record, manage and access that critical surveillance video.”

By simply installing the Smartvue app within the apps feature of the My Cloud dashboard, and subscribing to Smartvue’s services, the My Cloud EX products convert into a powerful video surveillance system capable of supporting up to eight cameras from one web portal.[1] Available for iOS and Android mobile devices, the Smarvue app supports remote video monitoring and management of camera footage recorded on the My Cloud EX products, as well as live feeds of the cameras. The Smartvue surveillance app also allows users to set automated alerts, motion detection, recording schedules and more. With support for hundreds of leading IP cameras, My Cloud EX and Smartvue users have plenty of quality options for setting up their surveillance system.

“WD has done tremendous work in making their My Cloud products simple to set up and use, while still including powerful features that more advanced users are looking for,” said Martin Renkis, founder and CEO of Smartvue Corporation. “The Smartvue video surveillance platform matches that same formula, combining with WD to create powerful video surveillance systems simple enough for home users while still boasting the advanced features that more experienced users and small businesses will enjoy.”
