The winner of UNION’s football competition is unveiled
UNION, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, has announced the winner of its youth football team kit competition.
Crossley Swifts under 12s, based in Halifax, was the lucky team to receive a full kit sponsored by UNION, after the father of one of the team members entered the competition.
Robert Lofthouse, who provided the winning entry, said:
“I would like to thank UNION for picking my son’s football team as the winner of the competition.
“My son and the rest of his team mates are over the moon and excited to have a brand new kit that fits them all this year.”
Eryl Jones, Managing Director of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, who was part of the judging panel, said:
“We were really impressed with the winning entry, which was presented as a limerick with a personal touch.
“Thank you to everyone that entered, there were some great entries – so it was a tough decision to pick a winner.”
Teams entering the competition were encouraged to think about what they mean to the local community, if they have a history worth sharing, or simply if they have a special story to share around their team, as a whole or individual members of the team.
The winner’s entry is below:
“Today I write to ask for a lift,
For my son and his friends in Crossley Swifts,
A talented bunch, an under 12 team,
In need of new kit – a footballer’s dream,
Baileys’ in goal mimicking Hart,
Josh in defence playing his part,
Ellis attacks when pressure does mount,
Karol runs fast and makes the ball count,
Dan takes corners into the goal,
Passing to Jake the happiest soul,
Adam, my son, captains the lot,
Scoring goals from the penalty spot,
They need new kit, as it’s been quite a while,
Please UNION help start their season in style!”
