Acquisition expands portfolio, complements and extends HID Global’s position in markets for highly secure ID credentials
IRVINE, Calif., February 2011 – HID Global, trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity, announced that its parent company, ASSA ABLOY, has completed the acquisition of LaserCard Corporation, a leading provider of secure ID solutions. The LaserCard acquisition further strengthens HID Global’s worldwide market position in the government ID market, and significantly expands its portfolio of identity authentication and government-issued credential solutions.
LaserCard’s industry-leading expertise ranges from secure card design and manufacture to issuance system implementation for large-scale citizen and resident identification programs. The company’s unique credential constructions feature LaserCard’s highly differentiated, counterfeit resistant optical security media (OSM) and embedded hologram technology that enables reliable credential authentication with the human eye.
