G4S signs new global security deal with Shell

G4S has signed a strategic global framework agreement with Shell International Limited, to provide security solutions to the energy and petrochemicals company in more than 30 countries.

The five-year contract, with the option of a further two years, will be one of the Group’s largest global contracts. Under the new agreement, G4S will expand its current relationship with Shell, securing the energy and petrochemicals group’s facilities throughout the world.

The contract will support Shell in achieving its aspiration to be the world’s most competitive and innovative energy company – helping to improve health & safety; operational excellence and management of non-technical risk; achieving a great place to work and live; and cost reduction.

G4S will continue to provide manned security and fire and safety services to Shell, as well as additional integrated reception and security services.

G4S will be deploying more than 3000 people in the new partnership and will be implementing an innovative new health and safety programme, as well as a strategy to implement best practice security standards across the Shell locations by leveraging G4S’ Service Excellence Centres.

The contract will also enable G4S and Shell to work in partnership to evaluate opportunities to expand the contract into other areas such as exploration, executive protection, business intelligence, security systems (excluding access control), alarm and response, aviation services and major event security in support of the Shell operations and personnel across the world.

Graham Levinsohn, Group strategy and development director, G4S, said: “We have been a partner of Shell for many years. We are delighted to strengthen our relationship further and look forward to continuing to support their international business strategy by helping to protect their assets and people.

The strength of this new partnership is based on working together to deliver growth for both companies and, as established global businesses, there is much that we can learn from each other.”
