An ambitious Midlands company has made two major appointments in its bid to unlock growth overseas. The Key Safe Company, based in Worcester, has appointed Group Sales Director James Buckle to orchestrate the firm’s expansions plans overseas.
And Loredana Sciaraffa has been hired as EU Business Development Manager with a primary focus on growing the brand’s footprint in Europe. “We have a product that is world leading and there’s definitely an energy around the business to get that message out there,” James said. “I’m here to hopefully make that happen.”
The business designs, makes and sells key safes to a growing number of B2B clients and direct to consumers.
James and company founder David Ogden have embarked on numerous trips overseas to help promote Key Safe’s innovative, industry-leading products. The feedback from industry experts in virtually all four corners of the globe has been overwhelmingly positive, offering huge cause for optimism. The company’s ark Tamo range – incorporating the Tamo, Tamo Pro, Tamo Mini and Tamo Go – is driving the company’s plans for growth on the international stage.
“These products are our big push at the moment,” James said. “Our future lies in that product range and how we can harness its cutting-edge technology to break into more markets overseas.”
After spending more than eight years in the Army, including operational tours in Afghanistan and Sierra Leone, James entered the business world in the defence sector focusing on international trade.
Since 2004, James has travelled to more than 70 countries, conducting business in most. He has worked in industries such as cycling, food and defence, specialising in building brands and profitable, long-term relationships.
Closer to home, Key Safe is executing a strategy designed to penetrate more markets on the continent. Loredana, the company’s first internationally-focussed sales professional, is coordinating this ambition by building connections and enabling Key Safe to better understand the market.
Italian-speaking Loredana has held posts as a product manager, clients support manager and even worked as a victim support manager for the police. British at birth but raised in a small village in the south of Italy, Loredana appreciates the value of understanding a different culture better than most.
“The ability to learn in a different country has given me more skills and the confidence to get to where I am today,” she said. “All of my previous roles have impacted how I work and interact with people today. I have developed and grown over the last 20 years working in various industries. I can honestly say that networking and building relationships is what I do best.”
Since her arrival, sales in Europe have risen close to 300% and Loredana is confident of further success.
Integral to Key Safe’s expansion is the launch of a European distribution centre to ship products more efficiently. The facility in Belgium has enabled the company to fulfil orders on a next day basis and to sidestep Brexit-related exportation issues. The company will be attending shows around Europe in the coming months as it looks to gain further traction.
