Shut it with the world’s first security door closer

ASSA ABLOY UK has launched a door closer with an integrated escape door locking solution that is suitable for retrofitting fire doors.

The DC700G-FT Cam-Motion door closer, lock and wiring is surface mounted, therefore no mortising or rebating of the doorset is required. This enables fire doors to be retrofitted with the electrical locking mechanism, while retaining fire door approval.

Buildings can go through many changes of owner and use, therefore the requirements of doors may change; however, fire safety and performance must always be maintained. DC700G-FT is supplied with a robust mounting plate that allows existing fixing holes of the old door closer to be used when replacing the body, eliminating the need to make modifications during installation.

The door closer is also non-handed reducing the need for considerable planning and enabling installers to complete jobs faster, therefore improving profitability and customer satisfaction.

The DC700G-FT has thermodynamic valves to accommodate temperature fluctuations and is fully adjustable to allow the door to be set up for specific requirements, as well as to compensate for general wear and tear of the door and other ironmongery components. Offering a reliable, long lasting solution that will improve whole life costing, in addition to helping maintain access, egress, security and fire performance.

David Hindle, Head of Door Closer Sales at ASSA ABLOY UK, said: “The slightest change to fire doors can lead to a risk of losing fire door approval – a hole drilled in the wrong place can be enough. This challenge on retrofit applications led to the unique features of the DC700G-FT.

“However, the door closer is also suitable for new buildings where designing-in simple solutions is a prerequisite for architects and users alike.

“The DC700G-FT is just one of many innovative products within ASSA ABLOY’s vast door closer range, showcasing our design ethos and world-class engineering expertise. We are proud to be the first to bring such a well thought through product to the marketplace.”

DC700F-FT opening force assists in fulfilling the duties required under The Equality Act (EA), specifically BS8300 and Approved Document M of The Building Regulations. DC700F-FT also meets the requirements specified by DIN EN 1154 for the possibility of retrofitting a slide arm door closer and retaining fire door approval on existing fire doors.

Suitable for fire escape routes, DC700F-FT releases under full holding force (200kg) and does not cause a reduction in door opening height.
