CLIQ at Basingstoke Shopping Centre

CLIQ at Basingstoke Shopping Centre

Festival Place shopping centre has been provided with a CLIQ™ Remote system, by High Security Locking Ltd and ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions.

Based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, Festival Place houses over 170 shops, as well as restaurants and bars. The centre is 102,000 m² in size and also incorporates a Vue cinema, Basingstoke Sports Centre and Basingstoke Discovery Centre.

High Security Locking worked closely with the shopping centre’s security managers to explore a key management solution. ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote system was selected and installed on all site critical doors at the shopping centre, providing a simple and intelligent electromechanical locking system to improve security, despite restrictive budgets.

The CLIQ™ Remote system allows only those with the necessary authority to obtain access to private areas, such as plant rooms and roof access. ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote has the functionality to create time defined user keys, allowing access for a specified period of time. This is a useful feature for maintenance workers and cleaners who may need to access the shopping centre outside normal opening hours.

Bruce Rutter at High Security Locking, said:

“We installed over 100 of ASSA’s CLIQ™ cylinders at Festival Place to help improve key control. The security team at the shopping centre decided that the ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote met their requirements following a presentation we delivered and we are pleased that we have helped the shopping centre to operate more efficiently and safely.”

Craig Allen, Security Centre Manager at Festival Place, said:

“We were looking to solve key management issues. ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote solution has enabled us to have more control over our keys. We have plans to phase out mechanical cylinders altogether, replacing them with ASSA’s CLIQ™ within two years.”

Simon Wilson, National Sales Manager – CLIQ™ Remote, at ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions:

“With retail workers, cleaners and site managers all possessing keys within a shopping centre there is always a risk of unauthorised copies of keys and an unknown number of keys being distributed.

“A copied or lost key is an immediate security threat, and replacing lock cylinders and keys combined with administrative work is highly resource-intensive. ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote system helps to minimise administrative work, allowing the administrator to grant access or to block lost or stolen keys remotely and conveniently.”

ASSA’s mechanical dp cylinders were also included in the same master key system on the internal doors at the shopping centre, which include case-hardened drill resistant inserts, false gate positions for increased anti-picking protection and a unique patented sidebar mechanism with force-controlled sidecode function.
