Free trial of CommVault Edge solution

CommVault (NASDAQ: CVLT) has announced a free trial of CommVault Edge, an enterprise-class solution for endpoint data protection, search and access. The downloadable software trial allows enterprises to experience end user access without requiring additional infrastructure, as all user data is backed up to the CommVault Cloud free of charge.

The complete CommVault Edge solution allows global enterprises to collect and manage all laptop and desktop data rapidly and efficiently in a way that is completely transparent to employees, yet minimizes risk and maximizes control for IT departments. Employees can access and recover their own corporate data from any device protected by Simpana® software without having to call the helpdesk.

According to IDG Research Services, 76 percent of organizations say secure access to company data from mobile devices is critical and 80 percent of those organizations report that IT spends a lot of time retrieving end user data*. With the CommVault Edge trial, IT can experience how they can empower their mobile workforce with secure, self-service recovery that can boost productivity.

The trial includes:

  • A lightweight, downloadable software package for Windows and Mac clients that installs in minutes

  • No infrastructure needed – users back up to the CommVault Cloud at no charge during the trial period

  • Automated file sync for increased productivity and fast sharing of documents between devices

  • Web and mobile apps provide secure, self-service data access

  • Document search and preview capability to quickly find and retrieve corporate files

  • Microsoft integration that allows employees to quickly find and easily recover files using Windows Explorer

  • Free email-based support

CommVault Edge Complete Solution

The popularity of third-party cloud file services and legal pressures are increasing the strain on IT organizations to address endpoint data backup, control and access. The CommVault Edge solution can bring a people-centric focus to IT and deliver more value to the business through increased productivity.

With the ability to scale to protect up to 25,000 clients in a single group, CommVault Edge technology can meet the needs of even the largest enterprises and can be deployed alongside customers’ legacy backup environments or as part of the Simpana single platform. Unlike competitive offerings, CommVault Edge deduplication, policy-based management and intelligent scheduling provide an efficient and low impact solution that also puts the control of all security, backup and permissions in the hands of corporate IT. At the same time, workers can safely and rapidly access and use their business data. Based on their roles, compliance and legal officers can intuitively and quickly search across all enterprise data to meet eDiscovery, legal hold and regulatory compliance requirements.

“The volume of user-generated data and the pace at which it is being created is putting IT on the defensive and hampering worker productivity when it comes to endpoint data access and recovery,” said Jeff Echols, senior director, product and solutions marketing, CommVault. “The CommVault Edge free trial program is designed to give customers an immediate remedy for this acute pain, while also setting the foundation for a more proactive and productive mobile workforce.”
