LOCKEN picks up ESB Group Innovation Award

LOCKEN picks up ESB Group Innovation Award

ESB Telecoms Ltd, a subsidiary of Ireland’s largest electricity company, has named their LOCKEN Access System for an award in the category “Application of Technology” at the recent annual Innovation Recognition Awards.

The award, which celebrates the innovation of LOCKEN’s unrivalled digital access control solution and recognises the recent integration of its security solution into ESB Telecoms Ltd ’s extranet IT system, saw the company’s health and safety team rewarded for its ability to use the solution to improve operational effectiveness across the business.

The implementation of the LOCKEN solution, using the Cyberlock technology, which covers the provision of 1,000 access systems for Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) base stations at 450 locations throughout the country, followed a pilot programme that allowed ESBT to ascertain the benefits of this unique access control solution. Subsequently ESB Telecoms Ltd decided to protect Points of Presence (PoP) cabins to comply with health and safety regulations.

Rory McGowan, Managing Director of ESB Telecoms ltd commented:

“We were very pleased with the team’s pioneering and creative spirit to leverage flexibility within the access solution to deliver further improvements for our business.”

Nick Dooley, Managing Director of LOCKEN UK explains:

“We are honoured that our solution was chosen for the award. There were 500 original applicants reduced to 10 shortlisted entries on the night of the awards ceremony, so it really is a fine achievement for both us and the ESBT Health and Safety team.”

Peter Gregg, Health and Safety Manager at ESB Telecoms says:

“Our remote facilities need to be accessible to more than 1,700 contractors, most of whom are external third parties. Being able to rely on LOCKEN’s advanced access control solution has enabled us to manage activity at remote sites and ensure thousands of access requests are granted to contracted personnel each month, ultimately resulting in increased operational efficiency for ESBT.”
