Met Police launch conference on how to improve the use of CCTV

Following the riots in London of August 2011, the Metropolitan Police will be holding a conference on Wednesday 18 September 2013 at New Scotland Yard for all representatives of the CCTV sector to discuss lessons learnt, good and bad practice and how to improve the overall effectiveness of CCTV.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Neville, Metropolitan Police said: “CCTV continues to be the biggest contributor to successful prosecutions of rioters and looters from 2011.  During the course of the investigation into the disorder many lessons have been learnt in relation to use of CCTV.  The Metropolitan Police is keen to share this learning with CCTV operators, managers and trainers – as well as anyone else involved in providing such evidence – to ensure that CCTV produces even more successful prosecutions and makes our communities safer.”
