SecurityNewsDesk were invited to Amsterdam to attend a Panasonic press event last week where we discovered the global company’s plans to enter ‘the cloud’.

In the plush surroundings of the 32nd floor of the Rembrandt Tower, the tallest skyscraper in the Dutch capital, Panasonic announced the acquisition of Cameramanager.com, a leading provider of Video Surveillance as-a-Service (VSaaS) in Europe.

The acquisition of the cloud-based video solutions company reinforces Panasonic’s existing security business as it looks to extend its cloud-based solutions to the business and consumer markets. As part of the acquisition, the Cameramanager.com team will join Panasonic Europe.

Against the backdrop of spectacular views across Amsterdam and out to the North Sea, Laurent Abadie, Chairman and CEO of Panasonic Europe, opened the presentation and hailed it as an “important day” for Panasonic.

“This acquisition is an important strategic step towards enhancing our smart and connected services offering in the European and CIS market”, said Abadie.

“With Cameramanager.com’s bespoke software and cloud-based solutions complementing our existing security business, we will be able to significantly enhance our presence in this space, by bringing together technical know-how and software skills and equipping us with the necessary assets to respond to future demands in cloud services”.

Rishi Lodhia, CEO of Cameramanager.com, and Darren Voss, COO, spoke about the history and vision of the company and stated this new deal was part of further international expansion for Cameramanager.com.

Lodhia said: “Since its inception in 2007, Cameramanager.com has gone from strength to strength and we’re now ready to take the next step in the company’s development by joining forces with Panasonic to bring end-to-end, cloud-based surveillance to a wider market

“We’re delighted to join a company that will continue to support the innovative culture that is the foundation of our business and together we remain committed to delivering excellence in online security”.
